Low-Intensity Regimens for Sickle Cell Disease Transplantation Associated With Risk of Leukemia and MDS

According to new study results presented in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, patients with sickle cell disease who underwent low-intensity regimens for transplantations were 2.4% more likely to develop a secondary neoplasm. Researchers analyzed a cohort of 1,096 patients between 1991 and 2016 and calculated 10-year incidence rates based on Fine-Gray regression models.
